Designed by the legendary Donald Steel in 1990, this course is not one for the high handicappers. The fairways are very tight and any shots left or right of the target are likely to be punished by the trees or one of the many bunkers. The recently redesigned eleventh hole is one of the best on the course, and requires a short iron over water to reach a narrow green guarded by five bunkers, a great test of players’ accuracy. Golfers are more likely to pick up points on the opening few holes, as the back nine is extremely tough and bogeys are not uncommon.

18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6807. Parkland.

Golf course

Located in 600 acres of scenic woodland, Bondhay Golf Club possesses a Championship standard course which boasts a stern test of golf to any visitors. Each of the holes offer something different and the rolling fairways, narrow greens and numerous bunkers add to the character of this superb golf course. There are stunning views in all directions at Bondhay Golf Club with the course bordering the tranquil Chatsworth and Dukeries estates. This is by no means an easy golf course, and at 6,807 yards it is not a short one either. The course utilises some strategically positioned water hazards that come into play on four of the holes and a number of bunkers that are difficult to avoid. Overall a great maturing golf course that ensures a pleasant yet challenging round of golf.

Our view: Bondhay Golf Club

Anyone managing a full 18 at Bondhay Golf Club without landing in the sand at some point should be pleased, as the bunkers on this course are tricky, and there are a lot of them. This is one of the toughest golf courses in the area, so is generally recommended for the more experienced golfer, as beginners may find themselves extremely frustrated.
