The Goodwood Park Course (The Goodwood Hotel)

from £20.00

The Park Course is a charming 6,650 yard golf course widely regarded as a “hidden” gem deep in the Sussex countryside. Designed by Donald Steel, the golf course is situated next to the well-known Goodwood Hotel and is surrounded by eighteenth century cedars giving the impression of a course much older than it’s 20 years. The Park is an intricate and subtle golf course presented in immaculate condition all year round. From tee to green careful placement of shot is important to avoid the strategically placed bunkers and treelined fairways and the delicate contouring on the highly manicured greens focuses the mind.

18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6650. Parkland.

Golf course

On a summer’s evening in 1892 six local men met to bring golf to the Chichester and the neighbouring areas. Although a low key affair the new club immediately had 22 members including members of the clergy and a couple of unmarried ladies. Around the turn of the century the sixth Duke of Richmond’s family, notably his daughter, took great interest in the game of golf. So when the nine hole golf course fell on financially difficult times, largely due to such a small membership, the Duke offered to move the golf club to the former Kennels on the Goodwood Estate. This building still stands today and has the original flintwork but the interior has been subject to much modification to accommodate the modern gofers’ needs. More recently the golf course itself went under a major renovation in 2004 to bring it in line with today’s standards.

Our view: Goodwood Golf Club

Golf enthusiasts are guaranteed an enjoyable and unforgettable day at this famous sporting venue and after your game why not try out Goodwood’s very own unique pub in the shape of the 18th century inn called the Richmond Arms, a short walk from the 18th green and a very memorable 19th hole!
