Hendon hosts various signature holes. The par 4 second hole requires an accurate approach shot to reach a narrow well protected green, achieving a par or below here is a great achievement. A feature of the hole is a watercourse crossing the fairway 100 yards from the green with a pleasant stone bridge (modelled on the Swilken Burn bridge at St. Andrews). The 511-yard twelfth is a dogleg left with ditches either side of the fairway. It is one of the few holes left from the original design, requiring ‘bottle’ for a well positioned drive and two good shots to hit a narrow and sloping tricky green.
