The golf course has been constructed on substances of glacial sands; this provides the effect of traditional moorland fairways which drain without restraint throughout the year, leaving the golf course playable right through the seasons. The layout is challenging but rewarding for all golfing abilities. It is difficult enough to challenge the best golfers, not only because the course is an implausible test to all, the picturesque surroundings make playing at Lanark Golf Club a great experience.
