The Kernow Course (St Mellion International Resort)

from £18.00 save 40%

The Kernow Course was opened in 1976 and went on to host several European Tour events in the following years. When the Nicklaus golf course arrived 12 years later the Kernow Course was all too easily forgotten in certain quarters. The golf course compliments the signature course perfectly with its wider fairways and larger greens. The redevelopment in 2008 saw 9 of the original holes lengthened and brought in line with moderns standards but with the addition of 9 new exciting holes it is now a hugely enjoyable round of golf.

18 Holes, Par 68, Yardage 5782. Parkland.

The Nicklaus Course (St Mellion International Resort)

from £26.00 save 35%

The Nicklaus Course was Europe’s first golf course to be designed by the multi major winner back in 1988. To mark the opening a match was played between Great Britain and USA with Jack Nicklaus himself competing. After Britain’s victory Nicklaus is quoted as saying “knew it was going to be good, but not this good….it’s everything I hoped for and more…St Mellion is potentially the finest golf course in Europe”. The course has a par of 72 and measure just over 6,500 yards. The golf course consistently features in the Top 100 list and although parkland has a unique layout and style. Holes 10 thorugh to 14 are closest most golfers will come to playing Augusta’s “Amen Corner”.

18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 7019. Parkland with lakes.

Golf course

It’s taken two years and £20 million of re-investment but St Mellion International Resort is back with a bang and should be on the radar of any golfer this year. The 4 star hotel, varied dining experiences and the leisure and spa facilities are sure to capture the eye but it the magnificent enhancements to the already excellent golf courses that steal the show. Both the Nicklaus and Kernow golf courses have cemented themselves as 2 of the must play golf courses for any golfer. The European Tour returns to St Mellion in 2011 when it plays host to the English Open.
